Knocking out a wall or taking a house down can disturb plaster, tape mud, window putty, siding or roofing, and any of those can hold asbestos.
State rules require asbestos to be out of a structure, homes included, before it is renovated or demolished, and we clear it before your builder starts.

A bath or kitchen can mean several materials at once, from the floor layers to the tub or backsplash wall and the ceiling. We clear the confirmed ones before demolition day.
Asbestos has to be out of the building at least two days before demolition begins, so we book removal ahead of the wrecking date.
Leave any asbestos in the section coming down, and every piece of debris from that section turns into asbestos waste.
For apartment buildings of five or more units and for commercial buildings, MPCA has to hear about the work ten working days ahead.
These are outside MPCA’s notice unless the job is urban renewal, highway or commercial development, one owner clears several houses at once, or the house was converted from another use.
The county inspection before a teardown applies in every Hennepin County city, Maple Grove among them. The owner or contractor must have four papers on hand, and we give you each one, from the asbestos survey and its report to our abatement receipts and the waste manifests.
Collect more than one bid before you choose, MDH suggests, and check what each bidder can show you, which is a license, worker certificates, a permit, waste manifests and an air-sampling report.

Need the survey first? See asbestos testing. The home page lists everything else.
