Cement siding shingles
We pull shingles one at a time, keep them damp and stack them whole for wrapping rather than breaking them off the wall.
Typical cost in Maple Grove
Gray cement siding shingles can contain asbestos, and so can some older roofing and the glazing putty on old windows.
MDH’s view is that sound siding should stay on the wall. So for a new window or an addition on a Maple Grove house, we take off only the shingles that stand in its way.

Older roofing is on MDH’s list as well. Positive roofing is removed before a reroof or an addition ties into the old roof line.
Glazing putty around old window sashes is another material MDH names. It gets a sample before window replacement.
MDH says sound siding can sometimes be covered with new material instead of removed. Check the city’s building code before you plan on it.
In homes of fewer than five units, work on the outside of the house counts toward the state limits, so a re-side can need a licensed crew.
Siding and roofing lost their exemption on July 1, 2021, for houses with one to four units. MDH also says asbestos in these products dropped off quickly from the early 1980s, so a lab result beats a guess based on the year built.
We lay plastic along the foundation to catch fragments, and plantings are covered or moved before the first shingle comes off.
We finish our part and clear the debris before your siding contractor starts, so their schedule doesn’t overlap ours.
Removed siding leaves your property wet, wrapped leak-tight and labeled, with a manifest that follows it to the landfill.
